Newsletter #2 – From Information to Action: Progress on Pandemic Response
This is the PAIR Newsletter #2 to inform about the project's updates and preliminary results.
Dear Reader,
Welcome back to the PAIR project newsletter!
In this edition, you will find the latest updates on our progress, key achievements, and ongoing activities aimed at strengthening pandemic preparedness and response through innovative, data-driven solutions.
From technology advancements to holistic health approaches, this newsletter highlights how PAIR continues to turn knowledge into action across Europe and beyond.
Highlights
- The PANPOC group developed probe-based multiplex LAMP technology in the PANPOC tool, significantly enhancing precision. This allows simultaneous detection of multiple RNA viruses with higher accuracy at the Point-of-Care.
• The PANRISK group focused on improving data integration from wildlife, poultry, and human movement to enhance predictive models for pandemic outbreaks. Data quality, ethical compliance, and GDPR adherence are core issues for this working group, reinforcing the importance of international cooperation in pandemic preparedness.
From Lab to Field: Real-World Implications
- Alignment with global policy: PAIR is closely aligned with international health frameworks, such as the WHO Pandemic Agreement, reinforcing its strategic role in early detection and pandemic prevention.
- Closer to real-world deployment: The concept of field-ready, point-of-care diagnostics is becoming a reality — delivering fast, low-cost, and accurate testing without relying on centralized laboratory infrastructure.
- Key technical breakthrough: The integration of probe-based multiplex LAMP represents a major technological leap, enabling a more robust and precise diagnostic platform.
