HIGHLIGHTS
PANPOC: Prototype development in progress
The PANPOC group is focusing its efforts on developing the prototype of the Point-of-Care diagnostic system, which will enable rapid detection of RNA respiratory viruses with pandemic potential in human, animal, and environmental samples.
Current status
Prototype development is ongoing with technical partners integrating key components and carrying out preliminary tests to ensure reliability and performance. The prototype is expected to be ready in January 2026.
PANRISK: Ethics and privacy compliance
The PANRISK group is carrying out extensive work on ethical and privacy compliance related to the collection of sample data used to feed the pandemic risk model.
To ensure that this data collection and management complies with personal data protection regulations (GDPR and European ethical standards), the team is defining internal guidelines and data-governance processes.
Moreover, the PANRISK group is working on the model frameworks and data flow for the spillover model, the animal model and the human model, which will all be parts of the final PANRISK model.
Current work
Privacy-compliant data collection procedures and the development of a robust ethical framework to support the responsible use of data during the modelling phases.
